The Kick off Meeting of “the Palestinian Research and Library Platform (PALIB)” project took place at Fundacion Universitaria San Antonio (UCAM) in Murcia, Spain on the 26th of February 2020.
The project, which is co-financed by the European Union (under the Erasmus+ Programme), is implemented by a consortium led by University College of Applied Sciences (UCAS) (PS) in association with Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) (PS), Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) (PS), An-Najah National University (ANNU) (PS), Fundacion Universitaria San Antonio (UCAM) (ES), Università degli Studi dell’Aquila (UNIVAQ) (IT) and Associazione ARCES (ARCES) (IT). The project started in 15 January 2020 and will last for three years.
The kick‐off meeting was organized as two‐day event dedicated to project management, quality control, dissemination plan and action plan for next six months. In addition to the financial and technical management aspects of the project implementation.
The meeting started with an official welcome by Project Manager Dr. Ahmed Aldadooh, Estrella Núñez-Delicado, the vice rector of Research at UCAM and Mr. Juan José Martínez, the General Director of EU in CARM, the meeting were attended by two representatives from each partners’ institutions of PALIB project. The Director of National Erasmus+ Office in Palestine, Dr. Nedal Jayousi were engaged to the meeting via Skype highlighting the importance of Erasmus+ projects in term of developing the higher education in Partner and Program countries.
Its worth to mention that PALIB aims to enhance the capacity higher education in terms of widening literature resources of Palestinian students, academicians, and researchers by building a cross-platform to connect the digital library and centers in the local universities as well as to build a research gate for Palestinian universities that is customizable with respect to different research aspects. The partners will exchange experiences and will identify best practices to bridge the research and libraries databases.
