UCAS team, a Palestinian partner in the HELIOS project, organized and held a workshop entitled “Blue and Circular Economy in the Palestinian Labor Market – Opportunities and Challenges; which comes within the activities of the HELIOS project.
The main aim of this workshop is to explore the opportunities of applying these sectors in Palestine, especially Gaza, and share the good practices of Blue and circular Economy, and also to discuss the role of the Blue and Circular Economy in promoting employment and social inclusion in Palestine. Representatives from Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Labor and other different local authorities, NGOs, and TVET institutions attended this workshop.
The workshop organized into three sessions: The first session was a welcoming and opening session .The second session was to discuss the opportunities of applying Blue and circular Economy in Gaza. Through this session, the Palestinian Federation of industries represented the results of the study conducted under SAWA project, managed by Enabel and funded by EU. This study highlighted the main challenges that faced industrial sector regarding circular economy.
On the other hand, Environmental quality authority highlighted the Environmental Context in the Gaza Strip and the role of all organization to protect it. Some current models of applying blue and circular economy were presented by Tabaria factory; this factory is one of the biggest factory produce water in Gaza. The third session was to discuss the promotion the inclusion of NEETs by exploring the current and future interventions. Ministry of Labor, Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Palestinian Employment Agency presented the future opportunities that may offer to the trained NEEts from HELIOS project.
In conclusion, all participants agreed upon the importance of applying blue and circular economy in Gaza and the role of all organization in promoting the inclusion of NEETs in social and economy, namely Blue and circular economy.
Alongside workshop, UCAS rector, Dr. Said Alzebd opened the HELIOS lab and announced the official launch of face to face training on next week.
Notably, this training will target 120 NEETs and will equip them with technical skills specialized blue and circular economy, and entrepreneurship and soft skill.
